Wade Watch

NEO defensive end Chris Wade (6-6, 255, 4.7) continues to say Arkansas is his clear frontrunner, but still has plans to take other visits.

Northeaster Oklahoma A&M defensive end Chris Wade still says the University of Arkansas is far and away his leader, but he wants to get in a few trips before calling his shot.

Wade (6-6, 255, 4.7) took his only official so far to Arkansas on Dec. 2-4 and has visits set up to Kansas State (Jan. 20-22) and Baylor (Jan. 27-29) and he and some NEO teammates may sneak UNLV in between those two.

"Arkansas is still way up there as my number one," Wade said. "I had a great time on my visit, everything was cool and they were great to me and my family. I told Arkansas' coaches to not worry. They have been there since the start with me and it's all about them with me."

Still taking the other visits no doubt has some Razorback fans worried about Wade landing some other place in the end.

Some place like Kansas State, whose new staff just got commits from four of his teammates and are trying to get him to come with them.

"I think Kansas State offered almost our whole defense it seems like," Wade said. "They are all calling me and saying come with us. I told them I would take a visit."

Wade says his dad is a Kansas State fan, but people shouldn't worry to much about that either.

"He's always like Kansas State and I have got some family around there, but he has grown to really like what they have going on at Arkansas, too," Wade said. "Like I said, Arkansas has really impressed us all."

Wade, who has been recruited by UA assistant Bobby Allen, spent some time with Razorback defensive coordinator Reggie Herring on his official visit.

"He let me know how big an impact I could have on the defense next season and how they were going to be very good and attacking and making plays and he wanted me to be a part of that," Wade said. "All that sounded real good to me. He's an intense guy."

Wade said that NEO offensive lineman Lee Tibbs - who committed to Iowa State earlier this season - was still thinking about Arkansas.

"I'm talking to him about going over to Arkansas with me," Wade said. "I think Arkansas is about to offer him. He likes them just like I do."
