Sutton Says Oral Roberts Will Play At UA

FAYETTEVILLE -- Oral Roberts basketball coach Scott Sutton has fond memories of growing up in Northwest Arkansas, and he'll get a chance to return later this year.ORU has agreed to play Arkansas at Bud Walton Arena on Friday, Dec. 22, Sutton said in a report published in Thursday's edition of the Tulsa World.

An Arkansas official said Thursday that the two schools have talked about scheduling a game, but he could not confirm if a date had been finalized.

Sutton is the son of former Arkansas coach Eddie Sutton, and a game at Bud Walton Arena would serve as a homecoming for the ORU coach.

If a deal is completed, the Razorbacks would host the Golden Eagles three days after they travel to play Texas in Austin on Tuesday, Dec. 19.

Sutton, who led ORU last season to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 22 years, said his team has also agreed to play at Kansas next season.

"You always want to play a couple of great teams from the major conferences, and we've got that with Kansas and Arkansas," Sutton told the Tulsa World. "They have two of the best atmospheres in the country."

This would mark the fourth time that Sutton has faced his father's former team as ORU's coach. The Razorbacks beat the Golden Eagles during the 2001-02 and 2003-04 seasons, but they lost 76-64 when they traveled to ORU in 2002-03.
