Smith was asked about moving to quarterback for his senior season.
"It's exciting," he said. "I'm really looking forward to the challenge."
The real challenge will be trying to defend Warren's potent offensive attack, as Smith along with teammates Terrance Hampton and Roshaun Fellows caught an amazing 237 passes for 4,612 yards with 57 touchdowns in the 2001 season alone, with Smith leading the way with 106 receptions. But Bret doesn't have any elusions concerning the quarterback position beyond 2002.
"I'm certain I'll be back at wide receiver in college," he said. "That's where I'm being recruited."
The six-foot-two, 175-pound Smith, who runs a 4.5 forty, currently has five schools he's considering.
"I like Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Tennessee," he said. "Arkansas has already offered."
And do you prefer one over the others?
"I like Florida the best," he said.
An excellent student, Smith carries a 3.14 GPA and has scored 18 on the ACT.
He is currently ranked 65th overall on the Heartland RecruitingRegional Top 160.
