Tejada's Class

Out of respect for the passing of University of Arkansas broadcaster Paul Eells, Springdale kicker Alex Tejada - who is expected to choose the Razorbacks over LSU - has decided to delay his press conference originally scheduled Tuesday for 1:30 p.m.

Arkansas appears set to add a ninth commitment to its 2007 football class when Springdale kicker Alex Tejada makes his choice official.

According to sources close to Tejada, the senior will choose the Razorbacks, but has decided - out of respect for the passing of Razorback broadcaster Paul Eells - to postpone that announcement that was originally scheduled for Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.

Tejada would join four of his former Springdale teammates at UA. Last year, tight end Ben Cleveland, quarterback Mitch Mustain and receivers Andrew Norman and Damian Williams signed with the Razorbacks. Former Springdale head coach Gus Malzahn, who coached the Bulldogs to last year's Class AAAAA state championship, is now Arkansas' offensive coordinator.

Tejada received offers from Arkansas and LSU on the same day in May, saying at the time that, "it would be hard to say no to Arkansas when Fayetteville is just 20 minutes away and I have so many teammates that are going to be up there."

Tejada hit 75 of 80 extra points as a junior and made 3 of 4 field goals.

He is the second Springdale player from the class of 2007 to commit to a Division I school. Red'Dogs' tight end Zack Pianalto committed to Texas.

Tejada or any of the players who have committed can not sign until the first day of the signing period, in early February.

All but one of the Razorbacks' commitments for 2007 are Arkansas natives.
