Loving that Arkansas Visit

Texas prep linebacker Jermaine Love (5-11, 225, 4.46) has great time on Arkansas visit and will make his decision public on Jan. 4 during the inaugural Offense-Defense Bowl in Fort Lauderdale.

Big-time prep linebacker Jermaine Love will make one college football program very happy during the inaugural Offense-Defense All-American game in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Love (5-11, 225, 4.46), a defensive standout from Garland (Texas) North Garland, acknowledged that much on Sunday afternoon after returning from his official visit to the University of Arkansas.

"I going to announce on January 4th during the all-star game I am playing in down there in Florida," said Love, who will play for West head coach and former Arkansas high school coach John Outlaw in a game that will be televised by ESPNU at 7 p.m. CST. "I'm looking forward to doing that."

Love didn't try to hide his excitement about his visit to Fayetteville this weekend.

"Arkansas is my favorite," Love said. "It was a great visit. I got to hang around the coaches and players and felt really comfortable with everything. It was everything that I thought it was going to be.

"They told me I am big enough and fast enough to come in and play early," Love added. "They said I could play either inside or out."

Love, who notes he has over 40 scholarship offers, took official visits to Arkansas, Nebraska and Texas A&M and Kansas State and an unofficial trek to Texas Tech and his pick will come from those five schools.

He has benched 385 pounds and has squatted 550 pounds.

Love had 96 tackles this season, five sacks and an interception in the seven games he was healthy for in 2006 while also rushing for over 500 yards.

He had a school-record 135 tackles as a junior with nine sacks and 14 tackles for lost yardage.

"I am working hard right now to stay in shape and be ready to play in the all-star game and then come get it done on the college level," Love said. "I want to be ready to play in college right away if they need me."
