Son of Clay

Little Rock Central star Charles Clay (6-5, 213, 4.75) and the talented duo of defensive end Alex Cook (6-5, 225) and safety Walner Leandre (6-1, 220) of national junior college champ Blinn CC are among the uncommitted visitors as the University of Arkansas host seven grid prospects in this weekend.

With less than two weeks left before signing date, the University of Arkansas is hosting seven recruits this weekend as it looks to fill its final four or five spots of the 2007 recruting class.

Included in that number is Little Rock Central star Charles Clay, who played tailback this season for the Tigers, but could end up either as a fullback, linebacker or defensive end.

Clay was on pace to rush for 1,000 yards before missing the final two games at the end of a 10-0 regular season due to a slightly separated shoulder.

He did returned to catch a 45-yard pass that gave Central a chance to win in the opening round of the state playoffs, but that failed to score after getting to the 10-yard line in a 7-3 loss to eventual state champion Fort Smith Southside.

Also on hand this weekend are two players that led Blinn Junior College to a 12-0 season and national championship.

They are defensive end Alex Cook (6-5, 225, 4.6) - who had a whopping five sacks in the national title game - and safety Walner Leandre (6-1, 220, 4.5), who joined Cook in being named second-team All-American.

The other uncommitted ones who are visiting this weekend are West Monroe (La.) cornerback Terry Carter (5-11, 170, 4.38) and deep snapper Rhett Richardson of Rockwall, Texas.

The list also includes two players who are already committed to the Razorbacks in quarterback Nathan Dick (6-4, 200) of Allen, Texas and defensive tackle Patrick Jones (6-2, 290, 4.78) of Lovejoy, Ga.
