Pelphrey Named Arkansas Basketball Coach

FAYETTEVILLE -- As expected, South Alabama's John Pelphrey was announced as the new head basketball coach at the University of Arkansas during a news conference Monday in Bud Walton Arena.

Pelphrey's hiring comes a week after Creighton's Dana Altman took the job only to return to Creighton the following day. Arkansas has been without a coach since Stan Heath was fired on March 26. Pelphrey, 38, spent the last five seasons as the head coach at South Alabama. There he compiled a 80-67 record, including a 44-19 mark and one NCAA Tournament appearance the last two seasons.
