Ervin Recovering From Surgery

Arkansas point guard Gary Ervin underwent successful knee surgery on April 11.

The surgery should alleviate the patella tendonitis Ervin was experiencing in his left knee, Arkansas trainer David England said. The junior from Brooklyn, N.Y., had a calcium deposit around the knee that began to bother him during the Southeastern Conference Tournament. "It's something that was nagging me at the end of the year," Ervin said. "It was causing my knee to stiffen up a lot. Most people didn't realize I was hurt because I just fought through it." Ervin was on crutches for five days, but he no longer needs them. He has begun rehab, and England said Ervin was on target to return to basketball activities in two to three months. "We'll probably be slow with him. But it went well," England said. "It wasn't a major surgery, and it should let him play without any pain from now on."
