Razorbacks Land Guy

Arkansas lands another big one when Kentucky speedster Winston Guy (6-3, 195, 4.35) chooses the Razorbacks over the Wildcats and others.

There were actually a few boos on Monday when Kentucky prep star Winston Guy announced his college decision after practice.

But there were only cheers coming from the University of Arkansas, the place free safety Guy (6-3, 195, 4.35) chose over the rest of a final four that includes Kentucky, Minnesota and Cincinnati.

"There were some boos because some of my friends wanted me to stay and play for UK, but they will understand later why Arkansas is just the best place for me to play my college football," Guy said. "It's got everything I am looking for."

Guy and his parents visited Arkansas for the Seniors Camp back on July 21 and he pretty much was sure of his decision at that point, but took a week to think it over.

Obviously Razorback head coach Houston Nutt, assistant Chris Vaughn - who got on Guy first - and defensive coordinator Reggie Herring came across well.

"Arkansas has great facilities, but mostly it was the coaches," Guy said. "I love Coach Vaughn and we have built a great relationship. I want to play for him and Coach Houston Nutt and Coach Herring. They are going to make me better and get the most out of me. My parents and I feel like Arkansas just has the best situation for me both on the field and off."

Guy noted that he had talked to both running back De'Anthony Curtis and quarterback Kale Pick - both already UA commits - before announcing his decision.

"They are both great guys and I especially have a great bond with De'Anthony," Guy said. "He's going to be like having a brother down there. They both let me know how great a future Arkansas is going to have and how they wanted me to be a part of it."

While Guy could play a variety of positions once he arrives at Arkansas, he has targeted free safety. "I love to hit," Guy said. "I want to come in and make plays and have an impact as soon as possible. I will do whatever they need for them because I know that is what Coach Vaughn and the coaches will do for me."
