Report: Norman Transferring To Kansas

FAYETTEVILLE -- Former Arkansas wide receiver Andrew Norman has decided to transfer to the University of Kansas, according to a report posted Wednesday evening on the Kansas City Star's Web site.

Robert Norman, Andrew's father, said Monday that his son was debating on whether to transfer to Kansas or the University of Tulsa, where former Springdale High coach Gus Malzahn is a co-offensive coordinator.

Malzahn led Norman to a state high school championship in 2005, and Malzahn was Arkansas' offensive coordinator last season when Norman was a freshman wide receiver.

Norman asked Arkansas coach Houston Nutt for a release from his scholarship earlier this month. Norman redshirted last season, and it seemed unlikely that he'd get much playing time this season with the Razorbacks.

Kansas has a wide-open offense that suited Norman, and the Jayhawks recruited the wide receiver heavily out of Springdale High.

Norman will have to sit out this year, and he'll have three years of eligibility remaining.

Robert Norman didn't return multiple messages left on his cell phone Wednesday, and Andrew Norman didn't return several calls to his cell phone.

Arkansas compliance director Marvin Caston said Wednesday afternoon that the school has not received any paper work Kansas needed to complete the transfer.
