The fact that the University of Arkansas hired Bobby Petrino certainly got the attention of Greenwood quarterback Tyler Wilson.
Wilson (6-3, 185) is currently committed to Tulsa and just led the Bulldogs (12-2) to a third straight state title – his second as a starter - while passing for 3,939 yards and 43 touchdowns.
"I think he is a great fit for Arkansas," Wilson said. "He is a great coach and someone whose offense has been very successful and get players and fans excited. I know that quarterbacks and wide receivers are definitely going to be excited about it."
Wilson, who threw for 4,222 yards and 50 touchdowns as a junior, is set to host visits Thursday from both Tulsa co-offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and Nebraska – who has recently offered a scholarship.
"I think Coach Malzahn is coming down to the football office Thursday and Nebraska is having a home visit with me on Thursday night," Wilson said.
Wilson knows that Malzahn's name has been mentioned as a possible head coach at other places.
"I know that his name has been out there for a few jobs and he is just checking out options and doing the best thing for his career," Wilson said. "That's just a normal thing for anybody and certainly something that I understand."
Obviously Wilson will be doing the same thing and if Petrino begins recruiting him the quarterback certainly will have interest.
"I haven't heard from Coach Petrino yet, but I certainly would be interested in talking with him," Wilson said.
