Arkansas Nets Oden

Offensive line prospect Anthony Oden (6-8, 295) is one of the players committing to Arkansas on Sunday.

It's hard to really call Anthony Oden anybody's little brother, but when you big brother in 7-1 and the NBA it can apply.

And now the brothers have a little rivalry to banter about since Greg Oden went to Ohio State and Anthony Oden (6-8. 295) is now officially committed to the University of Arkansas as of Sunday morning.

"He was joking about how we are now rivals," the younger Oden said. "He says you are now an SEC guy and I am Big 10 so we'll just have to argue about which is best."

Indeed Indianapolis North standout Anthony Oden is now one of the Razorbacks' 18 commits – including at least three that came aboard on Sunday morning after taking official visits this weekend.

Oden, who came to an Arkansas game earlier this season, announced earlier this week he planned to commit to Arkansas over Ohio State, Indiana and Oregon State.

He then took a home visit with new Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino and offensive line coach Mike Summers on Wednesday.

"I really enjoyed getting to be around all of the new coaches," Oden said. "They are very focused, very dedicated and you can tell they care a lot about the players. It made me want to be part of the program even more."

Oden lined up at tight end and defensive end in high school, but will be making the move to the offensive line in college.

"I know that I need to get in the weight room and get stronger for college," Oden said. "I also know it won't be an easy transition since I have been at tight end, but I will work hard on my technique. If I have to redshirt my first year I will understand, but I will just come in and work my hardest."

He does certainly have one guy in the Oden camp that is happy that he is headed to Arkansas in former Razorback track star and Olympic Gold Medalist Mike Conley, who is Greg's agent.

"Mr. Conley stopped by our house on Thursday to see my mom and was very excited that I am coming to Arkansas because he used to be a Razorback," Oden said. "I guess he and I can talk about the SEC to Greg and Mike (Conley, Jr.)."
