Big Al to Arkansas

Arkansas adds another defensive tackle on Sunday when it lands College (Ga.) Banneker standout Alfred Davis (6-1, 295) and remains in contention for his Banneker teammate Steven Fowlkes (6-5, 215).

There's no doubt that the University of Arkansas is looking for a few run stuffers in this class and got another one of them on Sunday.

College Park (Ga.) defensive tackle Alfred Davis (6-1, 295) committed to the Razorbacks before leaving campus on Sunday morning and joins Camden Fairview's Lavunce Askew (6-3, 278) as UA interior defensive pledges.

"The visit was great and the facilities are second to none," Davis said. "Especially that 100-yard weight room, which is just amazing as is the indoor facility. I felt real comfortable around the players and it just felt right."

Davis, who has family in Arkansas, visited with teammate Steven Fowlkes (6-5, 215), who is currently committed to Tennessee.

"I really enjoyed the visit and think they are a program that is really building for the future," Fowlkes said. "I am down to those two – Arkansas and Tennessee. I am still committed to Tennessee right now, but I am going to go home and talk over my decision with my family and just try to make the best choice."

Davis didn't need any more time and credits current Razorback defensive tackle and former Georgia star Patrick Jones with an assist on the commit.

"He was my host this weekend and did a great job," Davis said. "I did a good job of letting me know how everything works around there, what kind of opportunities there are and just did a great job selling the school and the football program to me."

Davis, who had offers from Kent State, Middle Tennessee State and Georgia Southern, but Arkansas assistant coach Lorenzo Ward got his highlight tape and loved it and the Razorbacks made a move on Davis.

Davis had 55 tackles this season, including a whopping 24 for lost yardage.

"Coach Ward is very convincing," Davis said. "He is a great recruiter and he thinks I can come in and work myself into playing time. They gotten another dude and with Patrick and the three other guys on campus they feel real good about where we are headed in there."
