Tramaine Thomas was headed to a U of A one way or the other.
Sunday, the cornerback prospect decided it would be the one in Fayetteville who is coached by Bobby Petrino.
Thomas (6-1, 175, 4.5), an outstanding two-way player for East Chambers High in Winnie, Texas, committed to the University of Arkansas over the University of Arizona during the Super Bowl.
"I really liked the coaching staff, the facilities and just how all the people around there really support the school," Thomas said. "The fact that I could come in and possibly play right away was a big factor also."
Thomas was an all-star quarterback for East Chambers and rushed for 1,300 yards and 30 touchdowns this season while also throwing for 850 yards and 7 TDs.
He also shined at cornerback where he had 105 tackles and picked off 11 passes.
"Coach Petrino told me that I would come in as a cornerback and that there would be get a chance to make an impact right away," Thomas said. "He also said he could see me playing some wide receiver because I have such good hands."
