Wednesday Grid Report, 10/30

Arkansas continued preparations for Saturday's trip to Little Rock to meet Troy State. A soft practice field forced the Hogs into Walker Pavilion.

Arkansas moved inside to preserve a soft practice field as workouts continued in preparation for Saturday's game with Troy State in Little Rock.

"Our defense really buzzed around today," said Houston Nutt. "There was a lot of energy out there today."

Nutt had the first offense work against the top defense in an extended session to simulate the speed of the game.

The Arkansas coach said it was tough to predict what kind of look to expect from the Trojans' defense, one of the top units in the country.

"They've played a lot of 4-3, but I think we'll see eight or nine up there against us," he said. "That's what we've seen every week. Everyone plays us different than what they play all year."

Nutt was asked if that means the Hogs will go to the air more this week?

"I don't know," Nutt responded. "We've worked hard on the pass and we looked good throwing today, but we've been successful running the ball."

Nutt said Cedric Cobbs had an impressive workout, but wouldn't predict how the playing time would be split at tailback.

"Cedric is really looking good, and he is anxious to play this week," Nutt said. "He wants to play."

Nutt said his players have mentioned in the last couple of days about the excitement of playing in Little Rock.

"I know they like playing there and I heard quite a few talking about that today," Nutt said. "We like playing there, I know that. Fans are good there."

Tony Bua didn't wear full pads in practice Wednesday and remains doubtful for this week's game.
