Future Razorback

Former West Memphis star and current Cincinnati Harmony Christian standout Jason Henry (6-7, 190) has signed with the University of Arkansas - becoming the sixth 2008 player to ink with the Razorbacks.

While he won't get a chance to play alongside his best friend, he certainly hopes to play a lot like him.

Cincinnati (OH) Harmony Christian star Jason Henry, a 6-7, 190-pound small forward and former West Memphis star, has now signed with the University of Arkansas after his official visit to the campus this weekend.

Henry, who considers UA senior standout Sonny Weems like a brother, had known where he was headed since an unofficial visit to Fayetteville back on his spring break last month.

He signed on Friday after the UA looked over his transcript.

"I've known for awhile that this is the best thing for me," Henry said. "It's my home team and it's been a great place for Sonny. If it is good enough for him, then it is good enough for me."

Henry averaged 27 points this season for a 32-1 squad and originally signed with Cincinnati out of high school.

He had thoughts of heading to junior college and actually dropped by a couple before deciding to return to prep school another year.

That decision means the 21-year-old will be a freshman next season with four years instead of just having a pair of D-1 seasons.

"I went back to prep school, passed my ACT, got my grades up and it is all going to work out for me now," Henry said. "I just need to finish strong like I am doing."

Henry also said he plans to start strong.

"Tell the fans I am bringing everything I have from the first day," Henry said. "I am going to play hard, be a good teammate and bring my shooting, ballhandling, rebounding and defense."

Henry will join five fall signees for the Razorbacks, who could also include 6-5, 225-pound Mobile (Ala.) LeFlore swingman Nick Williams, who is visiting Arkansas this weekend.

Henry had a chance to watch UA point guard signee Courtney Fortson in action in AAU ball.

"Man, he is the real deal," Henry said. "I can't wait to play with a guy like that. He's the only one of the signees I have seen play, but I have heard the others are great to and I am excited to be a part of that."
