University of Arkansas head basketball coach John Pelphrey and his staff will be in Las Vegas and Orlando this week at five different AAU tournaments looking at a plethora of 2009, 2010 and 2011 prospects.

University of Arkansas head basketball coach John Pelphrey was on a plane headed for Florida on Monday afternoon, but that's just going to be one of the times he'll be in flight this week.

Pelphrey and his assistant coaches will be jetting back and forth the country to five different AAU basketball tournaments going on in Las Vegas and Orlando this week.

They'll see a plethora of 2009, 2010 and 2011 prospects in the Reebok Summer Championships, Adidas Super 64 and Nike Main Event – all in Vegas - and both the Super Showcase and AAU 17-and-under national tournaments in Orlando.

"It's a big time for us in recruiting, not only looking at the guys who will be seniors, but also the younger kids," Pelphrey said. "It's a great opportunity to see a lot of kids."

Pelphrey will be in Orlando on Tuesday where he will see prospects such as UA commit Aaron Ross (now of Little Rock Parkview) of the Arkansas Wings 15-and-under team and sophomores-to-be Hunter Mickelson (6-9) and Kye Madden (6-4), two players that Arkansas has also offered.

Little Rock Hall point guard A.J. Walton, playing for the Wings' 17-and-under team, is another player that Arkansas will watch.

He then head out late Tuesday or early Wednesday and see prospects such as Texas select star Shawn Williams (6-6, 210) and the Arkansas Hawks duo of 6-9 Clarence Trent and 6-10, 205-pound Anthony Borden of West Memphis.

He also see the Hawks' 15-and-under team in Las Vegas that features 6-10 sophomore Hoops Vint of Van Buren.

All three of those prospects already have Arkansas offers.

Arkansas is known to be looking at several other prospects that Hawgs Illustrated will feature as the week goes along.
