Hughey's Big Offer

Lafayette County defensive end prospect Rickey Hughey (6-5, 221, 4.8) is very excited about getting an offer from the University of Arkansas this past weekend, but is not in a rush to make a commitment somewhere and may take his recruiting process into the season.

Lafayette County standout Rickey Hughey now has an offer from the University of Arkansas, but said Sunday afternoon he is not ready to jump on board just yet.

Hughey (6-5, 221, 4.8), a defensive end/wideout prospect, got the offer this weekend from the Razorbacks based in large part on a solid performance at their one-day camp on July 19.

"It made me feel really good and I guess they thought I put on a show up there when I came up for camp," Hughey said Sunday afternoon. "I think they think I can play up there for them."

Hughey, who heard about his Razorback offer from his coach, says that Arkansas joins Missouri State and Louisiana Tech as schools that have offered him.

"I am not going to commit right now," Hughey said. "I am going to wait and see what kind of other options I might have. I think I might take it on into the season before I do."

Hughey caught 21 passes for 402 years and 6 touchdowns last season for a 5-6 squad that lost in the first round of the playoffs, but has 16 starters returning.

"I think we are going to have a great season," Hughey said. "This (offer) makes me want to work even harder."
