The Juice Is Loose

Hawgs Illustrated catches up with University of Arkansas strong safety signee Anthony Leon (6-4, 230, 4.48), who notes he has gained his eligibility and will soon be on campus.

The Juice will soon be pouring into Fayetteville.

University of Arkansas strong safety signee Anthony Leon (6-4, 230, 4.48) – whose nickname is Juice - said he has done what he needed to do to qualify and will arrive on campus in the next two weeks.

"I just finished up and got my AA degree and graduated (from the College of the Sequoias iN California) and I am good to go," Leon said. "I will be coming to Arkansas on August 4th and be ready to get with it right away."

Leon – who began his career at Florida State where he played right away as a true freshman – is expected to step in and play right away.

"I have been working real hard to be ready, staying in great shape, going over my (Arkansas) playbook, working on my footwork, going through my core training and just making sure I am 110 percent ready to go from day one," Leon said.

Leon expects to open up at strong safety.

"I could play both strong and free, but they are going to start me out at strong," Leon said. "I think that is a good spot for me because I like to come up and hit and also have good coverage skills. That's what I can bring to the table and why I think I will make an impact right away."

He is very excited about playing in the SEC.

"The SEC is the best league with the best teams and the best players in college football," Leon said. "What that means is that you have to bring you best every Saturday and on every play or you are going to get lit up. I'm ready for that challenge."

He has stayed in touch with former and future teammate Andru Stewart, who arrived in January and was able to go through spring practice.

"Stewart says they have been working hard and he thinks that they have a great chance to be really good this season," Leon said. "I am really looking forward to getting down there with the guys and getting after it."
