Hogs down another assistant

Sources have told Hawgs Illustrated defensive ends coach Kirk Botkin will not be retained next season.

Arkansas defensive ends coach Kirk Botkin will not be retained, sources have confirmed to Hawgs Illustrated.

Botkin, a former standout at tight end for the Razorbacks and the school's first all-SEC performer, had spent two seasons on Bobby Petrino's staff. In 2008 he coached the special teams but was reassigned prior to the season when John L. Smith was named special teams coordinator.

This now leaves two openings on Petrino's Arkansas staff. Former offensive coordinator Paul Petrino – who also served as the team's receivers coach – left the Razorbacks in December for Illinois. Then-quarterbacks coach Garrick McGee was promoted to offensive coordinator, but the receivers coach job remains vacant.

FootballCoachScoop.com reported last month former UTEP offensive coordinator Eric Price and current Central Florida receivers coach David Kelly had interviewed for the position.
