Junior quarterback Ryan Mallett sustained a broken left foot Wednesday morning. Head coach Bobby Petrino said the All-SEC signal caller will miss spring drills.
"It is unfortunate since Ryan works extremely hard and has made a commitment to the Razorbacks," said UA head coach Bobby Petrino. "I am confident in our athletic trainers and medical staff and believe they are the best in the country. Ryan is a strong competitor who I know will put all his effort into overcoming his injury and continuing to lead this team."
Mallett's injury is a broken left foot. His recovery is estimated to be three to four months. The broken foot was sustained in early morning workouts Wednesday.
Mallett is expected to be one of the early favorites in the chase for the 2010 Heisman Trophy. He rewrote the UA passing records last season, leading the Hogs to an 8-5 record.
