Juniors Galore

The Razorbacks hosted over 50 juniors on Saturday - including Houston St. Pius X linebacker Kellen Jones (6-1, 210), Duncan (OK) offensive line Dylan Dismuke (6-6, 292) and Malvern defensive lineman Grady Ollison (6-4, 275) - and will welcome in even more than that for this Saturday's Red-White game.

While the University of Arkansas' current football players were getting their work in on Saturday morning, there were plenty of possibilities for the future looking on at practice.

Some 50-plus recruits were on hand for the Razorbacks' official Junior Day although there is even more quantity and quality scheduled for this Saturday's Red-White game.

"It was a great opportunity for us to get to know them better and for them to learn more about us," Arkansas assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Tim Horton said. "Not only did they get to see us practice, but we got to take them on tours of the academics facilities and the campus so that got more than just standard football stuff."

Some of the top prospects on hand included Malvern defensive lineman Grady Ollison (6-4, 275), Duncan (OK) offensive lineman Dylan Dismuke (6-6, 292) and Houston (Texas) St. Pius X linebacker Kellen Jones (6-1, 210).

All three have offers from Arkansas with Ollison thought to be favoring the Razorbacks and on the verge of committing sooner than later.

"We really feel good about where we are headed with our recruiting," Horton said. "We feel like we are way ahead of where we are last season because of all the work we were able to put in during February and March."

Other top in-state prospects on hand Saturday that - as of yet - do not have UA offers included Clarksville athlete Wesleigh Foster (5-11, 185), Des Arc athlete Cody Robinson, North Little Rock defensive lineman Antonio Cooksey (6-8, 365) and Jonesboro linebacker Brad Shearin (6-0, 230).

Some top out-of-staters include Blue Springs (MO) cornerback Bernard Thomas (5-11, 172), Jenks WR Steven Carpeneter, Union TE Blake Jones, Tulsa Victory Christian OL Trent Jenkins (6-9, 310), St. Augustine (FL) wideout Markis Merrill (6-0, 185), Rowlett (Texas) High defensive end Blake Wood and Fort Bend Marshall athlete Deandre Washington (5-9, 175).

A couple of Texas prep quarterbacks who made it were Conner Smith (6-4, 195) of Richmond Travis and Mitch Manley (6-5, 195) of Pittsburg.

"It was a large group, but there will be even more here next Saturday," Horton said. "There's going to be a lot of talented guys here.

Some of those sporting offers that are slated to be on hand Saturday are Ollison, Springdale Har-Ber Brey Cook (6-7, 305) Shiloh Chrisitan quarterback Kiehl Frazier (6-3, 215), Fayetteville quarterback Brandon Allen (6-3, 205) and tight end Demetrius Dean, Newport athlete Artez Brown (5-11, 165) Bentonville offensive lineman Marcus Danenhauer (6-5, 300) and Springdale offensive lineman Mitch Smothers (6-4, 280).

Some other top talent due in are Dallas (TX) Episcopal Parrish linebacker Rob Hankins (6-1, 218), Little Rock Parkview linebacker Michael Johnson (6-2, 220) and Shiloh Christian linemen Samuel Harvill (6-1, 270) and Travis Bodenstein (6-5, 295).

There will also be three 2012 wideouts with offers due in with Springfield (MO) Hillcrest's Dorial Green (6-5, 215), Warren's Jalen Cobb and Jonesboro's Zac Brooks.
