Elite Camp Notes

Orlando(FL) Dr. Phillips standouts Rodrick Ryles (6-1, 187) and LaQuentin Smith (6-2, 229) were among over 300 campers that the University of Arkansas welcomed to its Elite Camp on Saturday. Here are some tidbits and notes from the event.

• I have been around this place a long time - 30 years in fact. I don't ever remember a camp with as much talent as this one had.

They had over 100 walk ups and that put the final total at over 300-plus.

It is a testament to what Arkansas is doing in recruiting. Not saying they are going to get everybody that want, but all of those kids are visiting now and showing a lot of interest.

Darrell Kelly-Thomas did not make the camp, but was scheduled to arrive afterwards and toured the campus.

• I expect at least four and maybe 5 to go public with commits in the near future , but maybe not in the next few days.

• Expect Kelly-Thomas to announce something soon along with the Florida duo of LaQuentin Smith and Rodrick Ryles. I expect that all to be good news for Arkansas.

• I think Arkansas is in great shape with the Dallas duo of Chris Barnett and Anthony Wallace - both of whom are great football players and will likely announce mid-season after taking a couple of visits.

DeVondrick Nealy is here, but did not go through camp.

• Arkansas OL commits Brey Cook and Mitch Smothers both watched the afternoon sessions. We did video interviews with them and lots of others that will be up as the next two weeks go on.

• Some of the players that really stood out for me today were (and with 300-plus kids I didn't get to watch everyone):
