Wednesday Morning Grid Update, 8/18

Eddie Camara and Dylan Breeding had impressive mornings as the Arkansas veterans worked in the stadium. Camara was the only placekicker with a perfect practice.

It was scheduled to be a two-a-day affair, but Wednesday turned out to be just one practice for the veterans. Bobby Petrino announced after the Wednesday morning workout that the veterans would have the afternoon off. Instead, the newcomers only will work in the evening workout.

There was plenty of special teams in the morning workout. All three of the placekickers got a turn. The clear winner was freshman Eddie Camara. He was perfect on all of his kicks. Alex Tejada had one miss, from about 26 yards. Zach Hocker missed four kicks.

Patrick Jones missed the morning practice. Most of the other walking wounded were back in action as the Hogs prepared for what might be a scrimmage day on Thursday. There is no media or public access to the Thursday practice. It's closed and no interviews will be allowed.

Dylan Breeding had a solid day punting. Both Zach Hocker and Alex Tejada seemed to hit solid kickoffs in lengthy periods on kickoffs and kickoffs returns. Joe Adams had another good day catching punts. He appears to be the leader in that battle.

Rudell Crim moved back ahead of Elton Ford in the tight safety battle. Crim had worked with the twos Tuesday after missing Monday's workout.

At linebacker, Freddy Burton continues to work at middle linebacker. Anthony Leon worked with the ones at outside linebacker.

Ryan Mallett had a solid day throwing the ball. D. J. Williams dropped a couple of passes, but there were few other passes that hit the ground that were catchable. Tyler Wilson and Seth Oxner had a misconnect on a center exchange.

The offense seemed to be clicking in the morning workout. A crispness to execution seemed to be taking hold among the starters.
