USMAPS Players Ready To Emerge

Every year, there are some good players that slide under the "radar" during the recruiting process and end up being ignored by the "big-name" football schools. Often, these players end up having outstanding careers at other schools. Well, that title may apply to four players presently USMAPS. QB, Richard Lay, WR recruit Walter Hill and DB recruits Chris & Sean Grevious.

Richard Lay had received several calls and taken unofficial visits to schools such as Arizona, Washington State, SMU, TCU and Missouri during the recruiting period of his senior year. Lay possesses very good size at 6-4, 210, as well as a strong arm. During his junior year, Lay threw for 29 touchdowns and 3,035 yards Southlake Carroll High School in Texas (senior year totals not available). Although no one will ever accuse Lay of being the fastest guy on the team, he is athletic enough to pick up yards on the scramble or pass on the run. Lay's size and arm strength make him a welcome commodity to the Black Knight QB corp.

Walter Hill is a dynamic athlete out of Baltimore, MD, and is one of the elite prospects for the 2003 recruiting class for the Black Knights. A physical receiver, who possesses a combination of athleticism, strength and grace. He has the uncanny ability to make the difficult catch look routine. His athletic talents don't end on the gridiron. He is also an outstanding baseball player, as well as a pretty good basketball player. Hill should add immediate challenge and depth to the receiving corp.

On the defensive side of the ball, Army fans will be seeing double on future Saturday's, when they see identical twins, Sean and Chris sporting the Black, Gold & Gray uniform of Army. These bookend corners from South Plainfield, NJ, are solid cover corners with outstanding speed (legitimate 4.4 forties) and both are aggressive on the run. Chris is known to deliver a knockout hit and Sean is a sure tackler. Like Lay and Hill relative to their respective positions, the Grevious' should add immediate depth to the DB corp.

Here are some other prep names and descriptives relative to their play/qualities. Each of these incoming freshmen could shake things up on the depth chart as the season progresses; OL, Jonathan Connon (6-4 300), very athletic for his size and powerful; OL, Matthew Weisner (hard worker and competitor), and Sniper, Felice Terrigno (extremely hard hitter, relentless and takes no prisoners).

Here's an excerpt from film evaluations on the insiders network (MaxEmfinger.com) regarding the Grevious twins from last year.
