Army baseball headed to Virginia for NCAA

The Black Knights of Army learned today that they would face No. 1 seed Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia on Friday. Army, which finished its regular season with the most wins in program history (41-13), was assigned a No. 4 seed by the selection committee.

Other teams in the Charlottesville regional include No. 2 Oklahoma (38-22) and No. 3 Appalachian State (39-16).

Virginia is ranked No. 24 nationally by Collegiate Baseball, No. 19 by Perfect Game, and No. 17 by Baseball America.

Army last appeared in the NCAA tournament in 2009 when it also was assigned a No. 4 seed. That year the Black Knights eliminated the No. 2 and 3 seeds and nearly upset No. 1 Texas in final game of the Army season. Top Stories
