Army Signing Day Recap: FB and WR

Great players are one of the keys to solid, winning football teams. The 2013 Army football signing class is full of players who can help Army win more in the future. In this segment discusses the newly signed Black Knight fullbacks and wide receivers.

Leading the fullback recruits is Jonathan Mixon (6-0, 200) an Army brat out of Galesburg, Illinois. As a senior, Mixon rushed for 1,190 yards and 13 touchdowns in only five games. While he missed the second half of his season, Mixon is now healthy.

Corey Wilkerson played both running back and linebacker at Bishop Ludden high school in upstate New York. Wilkerson (5-11, 225) ran for 1,028 yards and scored 13 touchdowns.

Richie Smith is a 6-0, 215 pound fullback/linebacker from Pennsylvania who rushed for over a thousand yards last year but he may be tried at linebacker.

Rich Ellerson's first three recruiting seasons at West Point produced only one solid recruited wide receiver, Chevaughn Lawrence. That changed last year when the staff sent two excellent receiver prospects to USMAPS who they hope will make it to R-day. This year they have added three more.

Anthony Wilkerson is a 6-1, 171 pound wide receiver from Lincoln Christian high school in Oklahoma. Wilkerson looks to have some size and quick feet. Wilkerson produced 11 touchdown receptions last year.

Jared Vallner is a 6-1, 185 pound wide receiver from California. Vallner adds athleticism to the receiving corps. Vallner has run a 4.47 forty-yard dash and produced a 31 inch vertical leap at a junior football camp. Vallner played on both sides of the ball at wide receiver and cornerback.

John Trainor (5-11, 165) is wide receiver/running back who played locally at Old Tappan, New Jersey. Trainor was a First Team All-Group 4 and Second Team All-Bergen County last year as a senior. John ran for 1,050 yards, produced 550 receiving yards and scored 19 total touchdowns. Top Stories
