Army offered Jones on February 4th

Linebacker Jarrod Jones of Prattville High School (Prattville, Ala.) signed with the U.S. Military Academy on Wednesday, February 5th. Look inside for a photo and quotes from Jones.

"I first began talking to Army last spring" said Jones "The coach came and talked to a couple of us about West Point and the program. I thought it might be the last time I'd ever hear from them because he didn't say anything direct to me. A week before National Signing Day my head coach told me Army called about me. A day before signing day a letter came to me via FedEx to fax in. I called just to make sure it was real then sent them my transcripts and ACT score. They received the information and called me that night to extend the offer and I accepted then signed the next day.

"I remembered the conversation I had with the (Army) coach in the spring and seeing how great their facilities were. I talked with my coaches at high school for four hours on Tuesday about West Point. They told me what it meant to go there and what a great opportunity it is. The biggest thing is I get to continue my football career at the D-1 level."

Jones, 5-foot-11, 205-pounds, was a two-year starter for the Prattville Lions He played inside linebacker and registered 190 tackles in his senior season while making first team all-Metro. He'll start at U.S.M.A.P.S. this summer. Top Stories
