It's the first offer for Dollarson

Army has actively been recruiting Roland Adams of Florence, Ala., since early fall and discovered a talent along the way. On Sunday, November 16th, the Black Knight coaches made an offer to Adams' teammate, Jordan Dollarson, a 5-foot-11, 260-pound defensive lineman, who has come into his own in his second year as a starter. Dollarson spoke with on what the offer means to him.

"Army offered me a full scholarship last night ," Dollarson said. "That's my first offer. It was just a couple of weeks ago that I started hearing from Army. It quickly turned into regular commutation with a weekly call from Coach Seward. He said that when he showed the defensive coordinator and the rest of the defensive staff my film, they like it so much that they had to proceed with an offer. He told me I have a motor to me.

"I've been waiting for my first offer to come in. I've been hearing from several schools, but Army was the first to pull the trigger. To have a such a prestigious school like West Point as your first offer is a great feeling. I feel very blessed to have it. We had a pretty in-depth conversation. I didn't know a lot about the Army football program, but I do now. We're talking about scheduling a visit. I'm in Alabama and West Point's in New York, so it's a good little trip. I'm definitely willing to make it, we just have to iron out the details.

"I'm new to everything. I know that the game's going to continue to get tougher at the D-1 level. I want to continue to evolve with it. I'm just very excited to be given the opportunity. I'm also hearing from a handful of schools like Kennesaw State, their program is just getting started, Murray State, North Alabama, and West Alabama. I'm not sure where'll I'll end up I'm just looking forward to a new type of life as a student-athlete. I think I'll really take off as a player when I get there and get into the weight and conditioning program."

Florence has a deep roster featuring talents like Keaton Anderson (Alabama), Dee Smith (Louisville), Malik Manciel (Texas State), Chandler Brewer (MTSU), Tucker Sigle, Roland Adams, and Eroll Thompson. They heading into the third round of the Alabama 6A playoffs on an eight game winning streak.

"The coaches worked on getting me right on my pass rush in the off-season," explained Dollarson. "I'm currently leading the team in sacks with eight and doing what I can do to show out. I was always a run stopper but worked on speed, hand placement, did some jump rope to get my feet faster and it's all paid dividends in being a better pass rusher. Now I got to go help me team get that ring."

Jason Wallace was promoted in February from assistant to head coach at Florence after the departure of Jamey DuBose. In the last recruiting cycle, the Falcons sent six players to D-1 programs and look to surpass that number this time around. Top Stories
