The Black Knights got a steal in Columbus, Georgia in Markus Wright from Jordan Vocational High School. Wright finished his junior season with 95 tackles, seven sacks, 13 tackles for a loss, three forced fumbled and an interception. Receiving offers from multiple schools, including Navy, Wright started with a commitment to the University of California but reopened his recruitment and flipped to Army in January.
The Georgia native received first-team All-Bi-City honors as a senior tallying 60 tackles, three for loss, with an interception returned for a touchdown in only seven games. In his junior film, you can see his coaches used him all over the field at inside receiver and outside receiver as well as inside and outside linebacker and is said to line up at tight end as well.
On offense, where he scored five touchdowns with 23 receptions you also see he is an extremely skilled blocker, keeping his feet moving while driving his opponent across the field. On the defensive side, you consistently see him blocking the passing lane, disengaging his block to make the stop on a ball carrier and he seems to be a very solid tackler. One thing for certain is Wright's work ethic will lead him to contribute early and in any way he can to assist Army.
