Army's loses battle of 0-6 teams, 38-32

It started out looking like a good day for the Cadets when William White returned the opening kickoff 60 yards. That set up Zac Dahman who threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Alexander to give the Black Knights an early lead.

A pair of ECU Marvin Townes short touchdown runs put the Pirates up 14-7 in the second quarter. Later in the second quarter quarterback Desmond Robinson ran 10 yards for another ECU touchdown.

Army's Greg Washington intercepted a pass, returned it for 7 yards, then lateraled the ball to Ryan Kent who ran for 33 more yards to give Army excellent field position again. Carlton Jones scored his first touchdown run of the day on a 1-yard run. Army had cut the ECU lead to 21-14.

Army's defense held ECU to a field goal on the opening drive of the second half. The Cadets offense couldn't get much going after that and were forced to punt. The Pirates drove and scored again on a 2-yard touchdown run by Marvin Townes. The Pirates led 31-14 in the third quarter.

On the Army opening drive of the fourth quarter Zac Dahman threw an interception to Richard Moton, who returned it 26 yards for a touchdown, extending the ECU lead to 38-14.

Late in the fourth quarter the Army offense woke up, scoring on three consecutive drives starting with a 20-yard touchdown run by Carlton Jones. Army's defense held again giving Anthony Zurisko a chance to kick a 33-yard field goal to make the score Army 25 East Carolina 38.

Army's defensive unit stopped the Pirates and setup a Lamar Mason 9-yard touchdown run and brought the Cadets within 6. However, Army couldn't stop ECU from getting a first down as the Pirates ran out the clock. East Carolina prevailed 38-32.

The Pirates will attempt to bring their winning streak to two as they host Louisville (6-1) next Saturday.

Winless Army travels to Cincinnati (3-3) next week. Top Stories
