FOOTBALL (0-2): Baylor 20, Army 10. This was a game that Army could have won. The defense was much improved over the BC game, but the offense couldn't move the ball. Our sole TD came with 45 seconds remaining against Baylor's subs. We missed 2 out of 3 field goals; got stuffed on a 4th and 1 on the Baylor 30; and on 2 other occasions with a first down inside the Baylor 25, we came up empty.
Coach Ross took the blame, and said our offense was "a little inept." But the real problem is our offensive line. QB Zac Dahman
, between running and getting sacked, lost 35 yds on 9 carries. Carton Jones rushed for 80 yds, but did it mostly on is own. Army
's net rushing was 56 yds to 146 for Baylor
. Dahman passed for 228 yds (19 for 37, 2 picks) and Baylor passed for 205 (20 for 30, 2 picks). We had a slight edge in time of possession and averaged 43 yds on 5 punts. It was a game of missed opportunities.
