Two women's Volleyball stars get honors

Army senior setter Abby Casciato earned her fourth BADEN Player of the Week award this season for leading the Black Knights to a 2-0 week. Teammate freshman middle hitter Briana Stremick was named BADEN Rookie of the Week for the first time in her career. Army and Navy will join American at the 2005 Patriot League Championship after clinching berths this weekend.

Casciato recorded two double-doubles last week as the Black Knights defeated Colgate and Bucknell, to clinch a berth in the 2005 Patriot League Championship. The senior setter had 31 assists and 14 digs versus the Raiders and 55 assists and 11 digs against the Bison. She tied a career-high with six aces in the 3-0 victory over the Raiders. She surpassed the 200 career aces mark and currently has 206, which ties for fifth all-time in the League. The West Palm Beach, Fla., native leads the League in assists with 11.29 per game and has been named Player of the Week four times this season.

Stremick earned her first Rookie of the Week honor after a 2-0 week for the Black Knights. Stremick recorded match-high kills in both wins with 16 versus Colgate and a personal-best 21 against Bucknell. She posted a career-high four blocks in the 3-1 win over the Bison. The rookie middle hitter averaged 5.29 kills per game, 0.71 blocks per game and hit .392 over two matches. The freshman from Langdon, N.D., ranks among League leaders in hitting percentage (.243) and kills (3.31).
