The Experience Factor: Army Defense 2007

The Army defense was a bright spot in 2007 but saw several key players depart after the season. Last week we looked at the Army offenses experience/talent level. This week we check out the Black Knight defense.

DE Brandon Thompson -Started the final 3 games of the season.

DT John Wright -Wright started the first 8 games of the 2006 season. Played in 10 games, garnering 27 tackles. OR Ted Bentler-Iowa transfer who could end up as starter at either tackle position. Sat out last season but looked promising in spring drills.

DT Tony Fusco -Fusco started all but one game in 2006.

DE Victor Ugenyi -Ugenyi started the Tulane game. Saw action in 6 games.

SLB Charlie Rockwood -Rockwood had 9 starts at linebacker. Played in all 12 games.

MLB Brian Chmura -Chmura, who is taking over Cason Shrode's starting spot, has some big shoes to fill. Chmura had no starts in 2006. He did see action in 10 games.

WLB Frank Scappaticci - Had no starts in 2006 but worked hard in the spring and impressed the coaching staff. Scappaticci did see some action in every game.

FC John Laird -Started 2 games after Opoku was hurt and saw action in every game. Picked up 58 tackles.

SS Caleb Campbell -Started 9 games in 2006. Had 59 tackles.

FS Jordan Murray -Murray had 4 scattered starts last season and saw action in a total of 6 games. He tallied 44 tackles in those games. OR Dennis Cooper -Cooper had no starts but saw action in 10 games. Had 38 tackles.

BC Kevin Opoku -Opoku is one of the Cadet's most experienced defensive backfield players after Campbell.
