AREA GRADE COMMENTS
PASSING OFFENSE
D+
Army's passing offense was good at time but completing just 14 of 34 passes for with two interceptions won't win very many game. The interception returned for a touchdown was a total disaster. Take that away and we might have had a game that was 14-13 late in the fourth quarters. Who knows how it would have turned out? Still there seems to be a great effort by the coaching staff to improve this area of the game. There is hope.
RUSHING OFFENSE
C
Army picked up just 91 total yards rushing on the ground. This is certainly not great but there was some damage done by Army's rushing attack. Wake Forest has one of the better run defenses that Army will face this season and the Cadets were able to compete.
PASSING DEFENSE
A
Army limited Wake to just 49 yards passing and sacked the Demon Deacon quarterback twice. Not too shabby a showing against an ACC team that's actually been to a BCS bowl within the last year.
RUSHING DEFENSE
B+
Wake runs a lot more than they pass. The 'Deacs longest run was for 20 yards and their total rushing yardage was 164 but respectable 3.6 a carry.
SPECIAL TEAMS
D
Overall the special teams did decent but the punt return for a touchdown dealt a severe blow to Army's upset hopes. On the bright side Owen Tolson continues to look sharp with his punting. He averaged 44 yards a punt during the game and also had one go for over 60 yards. Adam DeMarco made his first and only field goal attempt of the season. Without the punt return for a TD this unit gets an A grade.
COACHING
C+
The Cadets had a shot at upsetting a BCS team. With a break or two Army could have won this football game. Got to fix the interception problem. Maybe work on with the offense on stopping interception returns because unfortunately interceptions do happen. Fix the punt return team.
OVERALL GRADE
C+
A valiant effort in a hostile environment. Just move on and get better and better as the season goes on. The wins will come.
