East Carolina drills Army, 59-24

East Carolina used a productive rushing attack headed by running back Art Brown who rushed for 161 yards to defeat Army in a game played at Greenville, North Carolina. Army helped the Pirates with four turnovers.

The Pirates got things going quickly when Marvin Townes scored on a 1-yard run just 1:34 into the game to make the score ECU 7 Army 0.

Army responded with a Paul Stelzer 39-yard field goal 4:15 remaining in  the quarter. 

ECU then responded with a flurry of touchdowns that brought the score to 28-3 with 11 minutes remaining in the half.  Brown was responsible for two of those scores.

The Cadet's senior Aris Comeaux caught a 15-yard pass from running back junior Marcellus Chapman to bring Army within 18 of the Pirates at 28-10.

Art Brown then scored his third rushing touchdown of the day on a 31-yard scoring run to put the Pirates up 35-10 with 3:24 remaining in the half.

Army Comeaux scored again when he rambled 84-yards on a punt return to make the score 35-17 with just under a minute remaining in the half.

East Carolina wasted no time and drove into Army territory but had to settle for a 46-yard field goal just before halftime to make the score 38-17.

Army struck first in the second half when Josh Holden scored from 1-yard out to bring the Cadets to with two scores of the Pirates at 38-24.

Desmond Robinson scored on a 2-yard run with 6 minutes remaining to put the Pirates in control at 45-24. 

Art Brown scored his fourth touchdown of the day when he scrambled in from 17-yards out to bring the score to 52-24.

The Pirates Chris Moore scored the final touchdown of the game when he returned Plebe Zac Dahman's interception 41-yards for a touchdown.

Army outgained the Pirates 384-328 in total yards.  Again turnovers did the Black Knights in.  Army has suffered 19 turnovers in its first 5 games and suffered 4 against ECU.

Army falls to 0-5 with the loss.  The Black Knights host Texas Christian next Saturday at Michie Stadium.   East Carolina improves to 2-3.   The Pirates host South Florida on October 19.
