Army Looking at Pennsylvania Star

The Army Coaching Staff have already started mailing out letters to prospective student-athletes across the country for their recruiting class of 2009. One particular recruit that is on the mailing list is Governor Mifflin standout, Patrick Haggerty. ArmySports.com recently spoke with Haggerty for a quick update. Read inside for more details.

Patrick Haggerty was a major threat to opposing teams on both sides of the ball last fall for Governor Mifflin SHS. The 6-1, 220 pound stud rushed for 562 yards on 74 carries from his fullback position, which is an average of nearly 7.6 yards per carry. On the defensive side of the ball, Haggerty starred at the linebacker position where he recorded 156 tackles, 4 sacks, and returned an interception for a score.

Patrick's performance on the gridiron last fall, hasn't led to any offers yet. However, he has been attracting attention from quite a few programs, including the Army Academy.

Patrick admitted to ArmySports.com that he's not all that familiar with the prestigious military school at West Point. But, from the little bit that he does know, he appears to be quite intrigued with it. "I am not very familiar with Army's program," Haggerty said. "But, from what I have gathered, I think it's a great school with a lot of tradition. I really think they have a great program. They are definitely a school that I would consider attending."

With the heavy recruiting season just around the corner, don't be surprised if Patrick gets a visit from one of the members from the Army Coaching Staff. Should this happen, we will certainly let you know.
