SC Athlete Big On Army

After taking a trip up to West Point over the summer to camp with the Black Knights, this 6-4, 235 pound prospect from the Palmetto State came away thoroughly impressed with everything he saw and everything they had to offer. Find out inside what this '09 sleeper prospect has to say about the prestigious military program at West Point.

Pinewood Prep LS/DE, Robert White, was invited up to West Point this past summer, and had a chance to check out the Army Academy up close and personal. "I went up there for a camp," White said. "I also went to another event that they hosted after the camp. I think it was called, A Day At West Point."

After having the chance to experience the Academy for himself, White came away highly impressed with what he saw, to say the very least. "It was a great experience for me," White said. "I got to see how important football was to their program. It is definitely a program that I'd like to be a part of someday."

At 6-4, 235 White without question possesses good size for a defensive end on the next level. However though, he has been drawing attention from a number of programs as a long snapper/short snapper. "Most of the schools that have been recruiting me have been talking about bringing me on as a long/short snapper," White explained. "Everyone seems to be impressed with my skills as a snapper. They've been talking a little bit about lining me up at DE because of my size and everything too."

West Point wasn't the only place where White showcased his skills over the summer. The '09 prospect also had the opportunity to camp with The Citadel and Charleston Southern. Needless to say, both programs came away pretty impressed with his skills as well. "When I went to Charleston Southern, I beat their long snapper's time by a tenth of a second," he said. "I competed well against the Citadel's long snapper also. So, I think both programs really liked what they saw in me."

Although White is completely wide open with his recruitment, he made no bones about which program is in the lead for his services. "Army is definitely my top choice," said White without hesitation. "That doesn't mean that I'm ruling out everyone else though. It's just that they have a really good program, and I'd love to be a part of it someday. You could really have a good life after graduating from the Army Academy."
