Herbert on Sports: 19 Dec 02

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (4-4): Played at Albany and lost 65-49. Junior Katie Macfarlane scored her 1,000th career point during the game. At Fairleigh Dickinson tomorrow.

WRESTLING (6-1): One key wrestler had to sit out with a pulled groin, and that cost us a 21-16 loss to East Stroudsburg. At Hofstra on January 5th.

FOOTBALL: Yesterday the Superintendent published a letter to all grads on the West Point Web Site. In it, he assured us that he is dedicated to a winning football program, and that Army's "return to prominence" should be built around Coach Berry. In the coming weeks, the USMA leadership will enlist the efforts of several experienced football advisors to "analyze the factors that affect the success of the football program." As a result of the analysis, it is possible that changes will be made.

That's it until after the first of the year. Linda (who does all the work) and I wish you all the best during the holiday season - and a few more wins in 2003!
