Arizona star likes Army

Nate Scola of Apache Junction, Ariz. has been hard at work training in the 111 degree temperature of the desert. He's got football and his future on his mind. Scola is very interested in Army and Air Force and has also been hearing from Brown, Princeton, Northern Arizona, Portland State, North Dakota State, Utah State and Fresno State.

LB/QB Nate Scola has camped at Air Force, Brown, and Northern Arizona. Playing in one of the toughest divisions in the southwest, he rushed for 850 yards and passed for five touchdowns, despite only attempting about eight passes a game because his team runs an option offense. He earned First Team All-Region honors and honorable mention All-State honors.

Scola, who is being recruited as an outside linebacker, running back and quarterback, says that coaches are really interested in his running ability, he runs downhill to the football. Army wide receiver coach Andy Guyader saw Scola's video and was impressed. He then visited Apache Junction in the spring to find out more about Scola. Although Army hasn't decided for sure what position he's being recruited for, Scola believes they want him as an outside linebacker or, "some sort of fullback or running back." Scola says when he last spoke with Guyader a couple weeks ago, "he said that I'm on top of his board and I'll be hearing a lot from him."

What does Scola think about the possibility of attending West Point? Scola did not hesitate in his answer, "Army's definitely up there. I could definitely see myself going to the military. Doing a great job for Army and playing early." He also says he doesn't mind the service obligation, "My grandpa was in the Vietnam War. He's inspired me. I like the military; it wouldn't be a problem with me. It doesn't scare me."

Scola is also hearing from Air Force and said he had a good camp there. "I went down to their camp. They liked me a lot. They want to see some of my senior film. They said I'm one of their top linebacking recruits. They really like the way I run too."

Northern Arizona and Ivy League Brown University are also interested in Scola. After camping at those schools the coaches told him that they liked him a lot.

Other schools that Scola is hearing from include Portland State, Utah State, North Dakota State, and Fresno State. Fresno State is a school that he had planned to camp at but the Bulldog camp conflicted with Air Force's camp.

Will Army or Air Force extend an offer to Nate Scola? Stay tuned to ArmySports.com to find out.
