Detroit native Martez Walker has made a smooth transition from the high school season to the spring AAU circuit.
During the live recruiting period in April, Walker had several huge performances in front of college coaches that have continued to open his recruitment wider and wider.
The six-foot-six swingman, who plays his high school ball at Pershing and select with REACH Legends, claims offers from USC, Iowa State, Providence, Oakland, Eastern Michigan, and Western Michigan with heavy interest from Xavier.
The Musketeers' coaching staff has seen him this spring, and have reportedly been impressed with his game, as have many other schools. Walker likely concurs with their assessments.
"It's been going well," Walker said about his spring. "We've been winning and that's the best part about it. Everything has been good. I give whatever my team needs to win."
Walker feels as though he needs to really improve on his passing to contribute at the next level.
"When I start scoring, I think I'm hot," Walker said. "I'm in my own zone. I have to learn how to swing the ball and get the offense moving better."
As the A-10's most successful team over the past several years, Xavier is a school that sticks out to Walker.
"I like Xavier because they love me there," Walker said. "It seems like they want me to be part of the program, so that's definitely something I'm interested in."
Although an offer hasn't been extended quite yet, it may very well be soon as Walker continues to progress with his game.
A 3.8 GPA student, Walker isn't only one of the best scorers in the Midwest, but also has things taken care of in the classroom.
So, what's it going to take to land him?
"Whatever school I feel I can play at and get better," Walker said. "Just making sure it's a good fit."
