It's Official: VCU Joins A-10

The Atlantic 10 Conference officially introduced VCU this afternoon in a press conference.

After much speculation and reports, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) have officially been introduced as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference starting in 2012-13.

Men's basketball head coach Shaka Smart has built quite a program in Richmond, VA, and the move from the CAA to A-10 will be an impressive upgrade in competition.

VCU had a magical run in the NCAA Tournament in 2011 from the "First Four" all the way to the Final Four.

This past season, the Rams were back in the Field of 68, and fell to the Indiana Hoosiers in a hotly contested game in Portland, Ore. after defeating Wichita State in their first game.

Between Temple, Saint Louis, Massachusetts, VCU, Xavier, Dayton, St. Joseph's, and La Salle, the A-10 is primed to receive several bids in the 2013 NCAA Tournament.
