Williams Adds A-10 Offer

Rodney Williams added an A-10 offer on Monday, which was his 14th overall.

Williams, a six-foot-seven power forward, gained his first Atlantic 10 offer on Monday by way of the La Salle Explorers.

In addition to La Salle, the Richmond native and St. Christopher's star currently claims offers from Boston U., Central Connecticut State, Delaware, Florida Gold Coast, Furman, Holy Cross, James Madison, Northern Arizona, St. Peters, Towson, Western Kentucky, and William & Mary.

He said he's just happy that the April period went well. As a rising senior, he doesn't have much time left to make a decision.

"I'd like to choose a school before my senior year," Williams said. "I took a visit to Drexel and La Salle, and La Salle said they were going to wait until July to offer me but the coach heard I played really well at the Philly Reebok Showdown and decided to go ahead and offer now."

It was a big step for him, as it marked a new tier in his recruitment.

"Being able to get an A-10 offer in there with Xavier and Temple and schools like that in there," Williams said. "It's just been great overall."

For someone that hasn't seen him play, he broke down his game for A10Report.com.

"I'm really strong, I'm pretty athletic," Williams said. "I can block shots and rebound well. I run the floor hard and I call myself a face-up four."

Williams said that he needs to work on his ball handling and his shot in order to improve towards the next level.

St. Joseph's and Drexel are two schools that really stick out to him, but have yet to offer quite yet.

When it comes down to it, though, Williams knows the meaning of a student-athlete and expects to fully live up to the classroom expectations.

"Academics first off, whatever major I decide to do," Williams said. "If that school has it and how strong they are in that major. Also, I'm going to look at the coaching staff and also my teammates. Just knowing the school is a great fit for my play. I don't want to just be back to the basket, I want to move around and show my agility."

As July approaches, look for Williams and his Richmond Squires squad to have East Coast coaches lining the sidelines.
