Santee Commits To UMass

Clyde Santee has committed to UMass, Scout.com has learned.

Clyde Santee, a product of Yates High School (TX), has committed to Massachusetts on an official visit, he told A10Report.com on Thursday evening.

"I feel comfortable with the coaches and the playing style," Santee said. "The program is turning around. It's turning around right at the right time. Derrick Gordon just transferred in, and you have a lot of sophomore and juniors on the team."

Santee is a six-foot-eight power forward and joins the 2012 Minutemen class of Isaac Freeman, Gordon, and Trey Davis.

He is known as an athletic player with a decent swing game. He has yet to academically qualify. He said he will likely be on campus on July 5 to start summer school and if he is unable to qualify, he will do a redshirt year and go through the Prop 48 system.

What will he bring to the A-10 and UMass?

"I see myself as a shooter," Santee said. "I can bring length to the table. Coach [Derek] Kellogg likes the big wings."
