At 6'10" and 290 pounds, Liberty Raleigh High School star Levi Cook is hard to miss. The 2015 prospect has been drawing a lot of attention from college coaches and is excited about July.
West Virginia, VCU, Ohio State, Florida, Virginia Tech, and Marshall are among the list of schools that have contacted the big man. WVU, Marshall, and Northern Kentucky have already extended offers, according to Cook.
With a confident swagger, Cook is brutally honest about his abilities to dominant in the paint.
"When I'm at my best, I don't think anyone can guard me in the post," Cook said. "They can double-team me or triple-team me, but one-on-one, there's no way they can guard me in the post if I'm on my game. . .I kind of play like Shaq."
"I need to get stronger and get more moves to work against taller defenders," Cook said. "I need to keep on doing what I'm doing and getting better at everything."
Cook recently took a Virginia Commonwealth, who will officially join the Atlantic 10 in all sports starting tomorrow.
"I really liked VCU," he said. "The campus was really nice and I don't think any of the coaches are over 40. Coach [Shaka] Smart is really cool. I really like him. I really, really like Coach [Mike] Rhoades. He really tries to mentor me and is really cool."
Cook said he will likely get down to Marshall when the July period is over to see the Thundering Herd staff.
Philadelphia, Louisville, and Richmond are among Cook's destinations for the July live recruiting period.
What's it going to take to land him?
"The coaching staff and the way they play," Cook said. "Those two really matter. If I don't like the coaches, how am I going to play for them? It would make it difficult."
He's got plenty of time before a decision comes down, but watch out for this 2015 target in the coming years.
