Pat's Picks: Coach Dye's Football Predictions

Pat Dye selects his winners and losers on college football games around the Southeastern Conference and the nation.

Editor's Note: Coach Pat Dye was 8-1 with his SEC football picks in week two and was 8-3 outside of the league. Going into week three the College Football Hall of Fame coach and member of the Legends Poll has a 42-6 record on his predictions. In the league Coach Dye missed on the Georgia-Carolina game. In non-conference games he didn't forecast Michigan's win over Notre Dame, Georgia Tech's loss to Kansas or FSU's loss at Oklahoma.

Here are Pat's Picks for week three of the college football season:

Arkansas at Georgia--Based on what I have seen, and we don't really know about Arkansas yet, I am picking the Razorbacks even though they are playing in Athens. Georgia has got something to prove to me now after the way the Bulldogs played last week.

Vanderbilt at Ole Miss--I think Jeremiah Masoli will settle in at quarterback and the Rebels will be a better team. Ole Miss wins this one.

Jeremiah Masoli looks to pass vs. Tulane last week for the Ole Miss Rebels.

Florida at Tennessee--I think Florida kind of found itself in the second half last week against South Florida. I am not sure if Tennessee found itself in the third and fourth quarters last week against Oregon. If they did it wasn't good. I do know that Florida has more players and should win this game.

Alabama at Duke--It's a stroll in the park for Alabama.

Akron at Kentucky--Another high-scoring, big win for Kentucky.

Furman at South Carolina--South Carolina is too strong. This is just a breather for the Gamecocks before their Auburn game.

Mississippi State at LSU--This will be an interesting football game. I look for Mississippi State to come back and play good against LSU and win this week. We will find out more about both teams this Saturday in what I think this is going to be a good one.

Clemson at Auburn--I think this game is going to be close and hard-fought with a lot of emotion on Saturday night. The schools are a lot alike so it should be an interesting matchup. I think Auburn wins this one at home.

Outside the SEC:

Maryland at West Virginia--I like Maryland in this one. I saw them beat Navy and that was a good win.

Georgia Tech at North Carolina--Although North Carolina has had problems I still like the Tar Heels in this one.

Nebraska at Washington--The Cornhuskers are strong this year. Nebraska will win.

Arizona State at Wisconsin--Both teams are ranked. I like Wisconsin at home.

BYU at Florida State--The Seminoles have too much speed for BYU. Florida State will win.

Troy at UAB--I think Troy will win.

Louisville at Oregon State--I like Oregon State in this one.

Tulsa at Oklahoma State--Oklahoma State should win this in-state battle.

Texas at Texas Tech--Texas.

Boise State at Wyoming--Boise State.

Iowa at Arizona--Iowa should win this game between ranked teams.

Notre Dame at Michigan State--It should be close. I will go with Notre Dame even though they are playing at Michigan State.

Wake Forest at Stanford--Stanford should win again this week.

Miami at Pitt--This should be a good game. I am going with Miami to win on the road.
