Hulett Named SEC Baseball Player of The Week

Auburn, Ala.--Hot-hitting sophomore second baseman Tug Hulett has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week after helping the Tigers to four victories.

In a win at Georgia Tech last Tuesday and three victories at Kentucky over the weekend, Hulett hit .529 with five doubles, seven runs scored and seven RBI as the Tigers improved their overall record to 22-5.

Hulett has a 13-game hitting streak going. He drove in Auburn's first three runs in a 7-5 win over second-ranked Georgia Tech. He hit a team-leading .615 at Kentucky in the Tigers' first SEC road sweep in three years. He is hitting .413 for the season, which leads the team as does his 14 doubles and .466 on-base percentage.

The Tigers are tied for second place in the SEC West at 5-1 with Ole Miss and Mississippi State. LSU, which has five wins and a tie, leads the Division. Alabama is 4-2 and Arkansas is 2-4.

Hulett is the third Tiger to win the SEC Player of the Week award. Senior catcher Bobby Huddleston was named the SEC Player of the Week on March 3 and freshman catcher Josh Bell received the award on February 17.

Auburn is off until starting a three-game SEC series on Friday at Georgia.
