Central Park Stars Plan to Sign on Wednesday

Tony Barbee is expected to add more signees for his 2011-2012 team this week.

Birmingham, Ala.--Two of the state's top basketball prospects are scheduled to sign scholarships on Wednesday to play for Coach Tony Barbee's Auburn Tigers.

Central Park Christian coach Darien Knox says that 6-9 center Willy Kouassi and 6-7 Bernard Morena will sign scholarship papers on Wednesday at their school. They are expected to join 6-2 guard Cedrick McAfee from Ridgeway High in Memphis as Auburn's three early period signees.

Both players are from The Ivory Coast and have received scholarship offers from colleges around the country. Morena and Kouassi committed to the Tigers in August and took their official visits to Auburn in October.

"Both players loved their visits to Auburn," says Knox, who notes that both of the Central Park standouts are honor students and the academic part of their equation loomed large in their decisions to play at Auburn.

Kouassi is interesting in studying agricultural economics and Morena is planning to major in engineering.

"Auburn is getting two terrific players who are also terrific kids," Knox says.
