Southeast Reset

With just under two months left until signing day, Southeast recruiting manager Chad Simmons breaks down where the top prospects in the region stand.

Jadeveon Clowney | Rock Hill (S.C.) South Pointe
#1 DE | | 6-5/235 |
I have been saying South Carolina for months and I still feel that way. Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State, and a few other schools have been mentioned along the way, but I see a repeat of Marcus Lattimore here, and I see Clowney as a Gamecock next season.
Tim Jernigan - Lake City (Fla.) Columbia
#4 DT | | 6-2/275 |
I am going to stick with my guns and stay with Florida here. Yes, they lost their defensive line coach to a head coaching job and he was the main guy recruiting Jernigan for the Gators, but I still feel he ends up in Gainesville. Alabama, FSU, LSU, and Michigan are some others he has listed, but I am staying with the Gators.
Isaiah Crowell - Columbus (Ga.) Carver
#1 RB | | 6-0/210 |
Just recently Crowell decided that he will take five official visits before making his decision on Signing Day. It has been Alabama and Georgia on top since the summer and it will come down to those two. I looked as Alabama as the school to beat earlier this fall, but it looks like Georgia has taken over the top spot on his list.
Tony Steward - St. Augustine (Fla.) Menendez
#3 MLB | | 6-1/215 |
FSU, FSU, FSU is all I can say for this one. I feel like the Noles have been in the driver's seat from the beginning.
Jay Rome - Valdosta (Ga.)
#4 TE | | 7-6/240 |
Clemson was the school many felt Rome would end up early in 2010, but Alabama and Georgia have been on top of his list for the past couple of months. I feel it still comes down to Clemson and Georgia though in the end. Georgia has the advantage right now. Tennessee is also in the mix.
Jermauria Rasco | Shreveport (La.) Evangel
#8 DE | | 6-3/250 |
Most top prospects in Louisiana stay home and attend LSU and I give the Tigers a slight edge here over Alabama, FSU, Texas, and a few other schools. Rasco has played things close to the vest so far, so stay tuned.
Nick O'Leary | Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Dwyer
#3 TE | | 6-4/230 |
For a little while now it has looked like FSU has been in the lead here. O'Leary has been to places like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Miami, and UNC too, but I feel the Noles are in good position right now.
Stephone Anthony | Wadesboro (N.C.) Anson
#2 OLB | | 6-3/220 |
Florida has been the school everyone else has been chasing for Anthony, but Clemson is a real contender here too. North Carolina, North Carolina State, Virginia Tech, and a few others are in the mix as well, but this one should come down to UF and CU.
Ray Drew | Thomasville (Ga.) Thomas Cty. Central
#6 DE | | 6-5/248 |
Auburn and LSU have already received official visits from Drew and he will take one to Georgia this weekend. It appears that those are the main three in it right now, but he has had people guessing from the beginning. I have said Georgia from the start and I feel the Bulldogs are in good shape at this time, but this one is worth watching until the end.
Dee Hart | Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips
#8 RB | | 6-9/189 |
Michigan had Hart locked up, but Alabama has crept back into the picture. Will he remain a Wolverine or end up a member of the Crimson Tide. It looks like he could be leaning towards the Tide right now, but nothing is official yet.
Malcolm Mitchell | Valdosta (Ga.)
#7 CB | | 6-1/190 |
Alabama has had the lead for Mitchell it seems for about the last six weeks or so. Georgia had the very early in the process and it looks like they are second on his list with Florida being third. Those are the main three schools being considered by Malcolm. He has his first official visit coming up this weekend to Georgia.
Karlos Williams | Davenport (Fla.) Ridge
#2 S | | 6-1/205 |
There is nothing that makes me believe Williams will not sign with the school he originally committed to, Florida State.
Kelvin Benjamin | Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central
#12 WR | | 7-6/210 |
The Seminoles are rolling right now in recruiting and it looks like Benjamin wants to be a part of the FSU program. Florida and Miami are the others in the mix here, but all signs point to the big receiver ending up in Tallahassee right now.
Damian Swann | Atlanta (Ga.) Grady
#9 CB | | 6-0/175 |
It has been an Alabama-Georgia battle for a while with Swann and it appears those are the schools he will choose from at the U.S. Army All-American game in January. He is set to visit Georgia officially this weekend and it appears the in-state Bulldogs could hold the lead here.
Jeremy Hill | Baton Rouge (La.) Redemptorist
#11 RB | | 6-1/215 |
LSU was the school Hill originally committed to and he is still very interested in the Tigers. Alabama and FSU have been schools he has mentioned for some time, but it still looks like Baton Rouge will likely end up continuing to be his home on the next level.
Gabe Wright | Columbus (Ga.) Carver
#11 DT | | 6-4/300 |
Auburn has held a commanding lead since the summer, but Tennessee has slowly risen up his list passing schools like Alabama, Clemson, FSU, and Georgia. Auburn is still leading here, but the Vols are giving Wright a lot to think about.
Jeoffrey Pagan | Asheville (N.C.)
#16 DE | | 6-4/255 |
Florida was his school for months, but Pagan recently opened things back up. He is now looking at a number of schools, but his first official visit will go to Georgia this weekend. Clemson is the school I look at as the one in the best position right now, but Alabama, LSU, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Tennessee, and still Florida are possibilities as well.
Greg Robinson | Thibedaux (La.)
#7 OG | | 6-5/285 |
There is no doubt about it, Robinson will be a Tiger, but will he be an Auburn Tiger or an LSU Tiger. This one has been a battle between those two SEC Western Division foes for some time and it will come down to those two in the end.
Xzavier Dickson | Griffin (Ga.)
#13 DE | | 6-4/248 |
Alabama was the first school to offer Dickson in the summer of 2009 and they have held the lead since. Georgia was the school he grew up following and that is his home-state, so they are giving the Tide the most competition at this time. He is coming off an official visit to 'Bama and he will visit UGA this weekend. His plans are to make a commitment to one of those two or Auburn at the UnderArmour All-American game in January
