Coates Looking Forward To AU Visit

Commitment Sammie Coates talks about his impressive senior season and visiting Auburn this weekend.

Leroy, Ala.--It has been a memorable senior year for Auburn commitment Sammie Coates. Finishing a terrific regular season in style with a state title won in Jordan-Hare Stadium while earning MVP honors, Coates added to that last weekend as he was part of the winning squad in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game.

Now he has the chance to see Auburn in great detail this weekend as he takes his official visit to the Plains along with his mother. Saying he's solid to Auburn and doesn't plan on taking any more visits, Coates says that this weekend should be a great experience.

"I'm real excited about it," Coates tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "I'm ready to let my mom see the campus and everything. I want her to see how good everything is."

Coates says that Auburn's 13-0 season and run towards the BCS title has been fun to watch this year while he was on his own championship chase. A physically gifted receiver who has the size and speed to be a huge weapon for the Tigers in the coming years, Coates finished his senior season with more than 1,000 receiving yards for a team that does its damage mostly on the ground.

Catching a 39-yard touchdown pass and finishing with three catches for 49 yards, Coates had a solid all-star game performance to finish his high school career.

"It was pretty big," Coates says of the all-star game in Mobile. "It was a good experience and a great way to finish off my senior year. Playing in the all-star game meant a lot to me. Having the chance to play against such great athletes was big because I got to show that even though I'm from a little school I could compete."
